CitriStim®, a yeast mannan, is an ADM proprietary yeast (Pichia guilliermondii) product that can be used in all life stages and classes of livestock, equine, poultry, and aquaculture. Research documents CitriStim's deleterious effect on E. coli populations. Yeast mannans have been shown to influence the population of pathogenic bacteria (including E. coli, Salmonella, Proteus, Klebsiella, and Clostridium) by lowering their numbers. CitriStim has unique features and is a beneficial feed ingredient with a proven track record. Many animal producers are using a yeast mannan product. CitriStim is a proprietary feed ingredient manufactured solely by ADM and is the most cost effective product in its class.
Whole-yeast has Positive Influence on Health Status of Animals.
Infection: More than 30 years of research involving yeast mannans, which are provided in whole yeast, have shown many fimbriated bacteria species readily adhere to the surface of yeast mannans, thereby interfering with the infection process. Due to the pathogen adhering effect of yeast mannans, fewer pathogens are available for intestinal colonization, resulting in lower infection rates (refer to #1 in Suggested Modes of Action). Pathogenic species that have shown possible adhering to yeast manans include: E. coli, Salmonella, Proteus, and Klebsiella.
Gut Immunity: Yeast mannans and beta-glucans provide conditioning for gut immunity. CitriStim is consistently high in yeast mannan and beta-glucan content. Research shows intestinal immune cells (Peyer's Patches) are highly responsive to yeast mannans and beta-glucans in whole yeast. The result is elevated immune signaling and recruitment of macrophages and other immune cells to the intestine to counter anticipated pathogenic challenges (refer to #2 in Suggested Modes of Action).
